global entryAre you a frequent global traveler?  If yes, Global Entry, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection program will save you time at the airport, which means no more standing in the customs line!

Global Entry is ideal for frequent international travelers, since it allows pre-approved travelers to enter the U.S. using an automated kiosk.  Applicants must undergo a rigorous background check and interview before enrollment.  There is a $100 non-refundable fee for the application and membership is valid for 5 years.  Automated kiosks are located in over 25 U.S. airports, including Washington/IAD, Houston/IAH, New York/JFK, Los Angeles/LAX, Boston/BOS, and San Francisco/SFO.  In addition, kiosks are available at all 8 pre-clearance airports in Canada.

At the Global Entry airport kiosks, enrolled users will present their machine-readable Passport or U.S. permanent resident card and place fingertips on the scanner for to establish identity.  Users will complete a customs declaration and the kiosk issues a receipt with instructions to proceed to baggage claim.  Although the goal of the Global Entry program is to expedite travelers through U.S. customs, members may be asked for further inspection.  The average time saved waiting in line at customs is more than 70% and over 75% of Global Entry members are processed in under 5 minutes.

The Global Entry program is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, Dutch citizens, and Mexican nationals.  Canadian citizens and residents may enjoy Global Entry benefits through membership in the NEXUS program.  For more information or to complete an application, click here: http://www.globalentry.gov/howtoapply.html.
